3 Rivers Learning Centre

The 3 Rivers Learning Centre project is a concept to envelop a learning culture across the northern region of BT, hence the name incorporating the rivers of Tyne, Tees and Wear.

The project has been active in the Newcastle Contact Centre since 2005 when the first Union Learning Reps (ULRs) were appointed. ULRs undertake training to assist colleagues to consider the variety of learning and development opportunities available to them.

ULRs are available to discuss any aspect of learning with you. It could be that you wish to:

  • learn more  about a hobby that you enjoy e.g. photography, web design, painting

  • develop your skills within the workplace to assist your career progression

  • know where to locate specific information e.g what a CV looks like

  • update your English & maths skills to help children/grandchildren with their homework

  • discuss self development without committing to a specific course

  • find out details of onsite courses

  • find out details of online learning opportunities

  • obtain information about local courses

  • know how to incorporate learning opportunities into your shift pattern

  • help you locate specific learning opportunities e.g we have helped colleagues find courses on Arabic, archery, Japanese, plastering, Turkish for beginners.
