Lifelong Learning in the North East
The North East Region covers a large geographical area and while it is
home to a number of large towns and cities it also incorporates a vast
rural area. The aim is to create learning opportunities for all our
members irrespective of location which means that in addition to having
our own learning centres we need to utilise the resources of other trade
unions and community organisations.
The success of the CWU learning agenda is reliant on the Union Learner
Representatives working with members at local level.
The new role introduce in 2003 continues to be developed to offer the
best information, advice and guidance possible to members looking to
improve their existing skills.
As the learning agenda progresses throughout the North East the Union
Learning Representatives will increase in numbers providing more local
contact. The webpage will also expand to offer more information on the
courses available and events taking place within your area.
Numerous courses can be accessed for free and in many cases they can
also be offered to family. If you go to course availability it will
provide you with information on what is currently obtainable and if you
are interested then contact your local ULR for further details. If you
know of any learning activities taking place in your area please let
myself or your local ULR know so we can circulate the information to
other CWU members in that area.
